Seeking counseling can feel like a vulnerable experience. With the belief that counseling is tailored to the individual needs of the person, I have a supportive and strengths-based approach, customized to your unique story of grief, loss, transition or trauma. I have a focus on grief recovery, and I understand that grief is an experience impacting both the mind and body, an evolving process most successful with support. I work to create a place of safety and acceptance in which you can comfortably explore the direction best suited for your personal healing and wholeness.
I am thrilled to be back in my hometown of the ‘Boro working in private practice as an LPC-MHSP, NCC, after over 20 years away. I gained valuable counseling experience in that time, working in various environments in pursuit of helping people develop resilience and hopefulness.
I hold a certification in grief counseling and specialize in working with people through grief/loss and life transitions. Check out my profile here: https://grief.com/grief-counselor-directory/name/melissa-lowery
With additional training in sports counseling (specific to performance psychology and injury recovery), I developed an interest in working with athletes, as well.
I also have a great deal of experience in working with people experiencing depression and anxiety issues.
As a result of my training and experience, I am also a state board approved supervisor for counselors working towards their LPC licensure. Supervising burgeoning clinicians helps keep me up-to-date with the latest research and trends in the mental health field, which benefits my clients.
I accept private pay for sessions for adults and accept United and Optum/Optum EAP insurances.
I commend the courage it takes to ask for help, and I appreciate the opportunity to walk with you on your path.
